Title: IT Technical Writer for Network Operations Group

Job location: Philadalphia PA

Contract duration: 8 months+

Role Summary 
This role is part of a team responsible for the continuous operation and performance of enterprise technology. This position will focus on the design, creation and maintenance of the technical documentation for the support organization.  The documentation could include online help, user guides, and instruction for user manuals, system manuals, processes and procedures, white papers, design specifications, system manuals, test plans, business announcements/correspondence, technical bulletins, workflows, etc. The resource will not be the technology subject matter expert but must be able to quickly acquire knowledge and understanding of the technology products to be described.  Technical documentation produced will be appropriate to the intended audience and will simplify complex concepts or processes to maximize reader comprehension.  Resource will analyze the purpose and what the document must communicate (persuade, perform a task, reference for troubleshooting, provide information or better understanding, etc.).  Documentation will be designed and developed to fulfill the purpose.  Additionally responsibilities will include creation and maintenance of templates for business communication materials.

Specific areas of responsibility are:
  • Organize material and complete writing assignment according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology
  • Maintain records and files of work and revisions
  • Edit, standardize, or make changes to material prepared by other writers or establishment personnel
  • Confer with technical support representatives, vendors, or publisher to establish technical specifications and to determine subject material to be developed for publication
  • Review published materials and recommend revisions or changes in scope, format, content, and methods of reproduction and binding
  • Select photographs, drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts to illustrate material
  • Study drawings, specifications, mockups, and product samples to integrate and delineate technology, operating procedure, and production sequence and detail
  • Interview technical support personnel and read journals and other material to become familiar with product technologies and production methods

Prior experience with a large enterprise network, preferably in the healthcare sector
4+ years of experience dealing with infrastructure and support services
Proficiency in using content/document management tools Confluence and Microsoft Office applications SharePoint, Visio, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
Ability to present ideas in a user-friendly language
Ability to work on multiple projects at the same time
Highly self-motivated and directed
Keen attention to detail
Strong customer service orientation


Bachelor' s Degree with a focus on technical writing or a related discipline and at least 4 years of experience or its equivalent in education and work experience
